Learn what a tracker needs to read—and what it should never need you to reveal. No wallet connection is required here.
Viewing public information, connecting a wallet, signing a message, approving spending, and submitting a transaction are different actions. A research tool should explain why any requested permission is necessary. TrackAltcoins.com does not request any of these connections or authorizations.
Review Ethereum’s security guidance for seed-phrase protection and scam-prevention basics. Do not enter recovery material into a tracking website or follow an unsolicited request to “fix” a wallet connection.
| Workflow | What to inspect | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Public-address viewing | Address-linking privacy; storage and retention | Reading public activity does not establish real-world ownership. |
| Exchange read-only integration | Exact API permissions and revocation options | Read-only account data can still be sensitive. |
| Software wallet | Application source; device environment; request details | A familiar interface does not make every signature harmless. |
| Hardware signing device | Displayed transaction details; recovery process | Key isolation does not replace review of what you authorize. |
Write down the information a tool reads, the actions it can authorize, and where its records are stored. Check how to revoke access and export the information you need. Keep account disconnection separate from any permissions already recorded onchain.
For portfolio research, do not assume that more integrations mean a better result. A smaller workflow can be easier to inspect and reconcile. The full read-only tracking guide provides a practical permission checklist and explains privacy considerations.
