Frequently asked questions

Good questions. Clear answers.

Understand the scope, storage choices, and limitations of the site before using its resources.

What does “altcoin” mean here?
We use altcoin as a broad label for cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin. Native coins, governance tokens, and asset representations still need separate research. Visit the glossary for terminology.
Does TrackAltcoins.com show live prices?
No. This is a read-only research directory and guide library. It does not stream quotes, rank gainers, or synchronize wallet balances. Read the methodology for coverage details.
Do I need to connect a wallet?
No. Every guide and profile is available without a connection or account. We never request a recovery phrase, private key, exchange credential, or transaction signature.
Where is my watchlist stored?
Saved profile IDs stay in this browser’s local storage. They are research bookmarks, not holdings. Clearing site data or switching browsers can remove them. Use the export button on your watchlist for a portable copy.
Is the altcoins API a live service?
No. The API resource page provides a real downloadable static JSON reference and integration examples. There is no market feed, account service, or uptime commitment.
Is this investment advice?
No. Content explains research methods rather than recommending purchases or allocations. Read the risk disclosure before using the material in a financial context.
Can I enter my holdings or wallet address?
No. This website has no data-entry forms. The portfolio page offers fictional learning scenarios; it does not import or calculate your holdings. Keep personal records in a tool whose capabilities and privacy terms you have reviewed.
Why are there only six asset profiles?
The profiles illustrate different asset types and research questions. The list is curated, not comprehensive or ordered by performance. Coverage does not imply endorsement, and omission is not a negative assessment.
Are the featured dates market observation times?
No. Article publication dates describe the field notes. Profile review dates describe reference content. Neither is a price timestamp or evidence that market values were collected.
Can I use the guides without JavaScript?
Yes. Page content, links, references, and articles are in the HTML. JavaScript enhances the mobile menu, bookmarks, filters, code examples, and learning scenarios. Downloads remain available through direct links.
Does the site use analytics or advertising trackers?
The delivered site includes no analytics, advertising tags, remote fonts, or third-party runtime scripts. Your hosting provider may still keep infrastructure logs. Read the privacy notice for the distinction.
How can I report an error?
Email [email protected] with the page URL, the statement, and a primary supporting source. Do not send sensitive wallet or account information.
